Nifti Gifts

The Begining

A developer studying artificial intelligence received a gift voucher for Christmas; he was delighted because it was something he wanted to do. Early January, he could not wait any longer to use his gift; he tried to book only to find he had to travel miles from his university to redeem it; it turned out it would be cheaper for him to secure something local and dispose of his gift. He asked friends and family if this had ever happened to them and found it was quite a problem, restaurant vouchers that the recipients didn’t enjoy their food, driving vouchers that recipients didn’t live local and so on. He thought, “If any local business could redeem gift vouchers, this would be a huge advantage.” He started working on programming a new artificial intelligence learning machine to check redemptions from any business within a category automatically. He started trials comparing manual redemptions vs AI redemptions; it failed; it needed human input to check if they were real. He returned to the drawing board; he thought it must be possible. He changed the code; he asked other developers for support, and they developed a new system to try between them. They put it live and failed again, but this time it was slightly more accurate at predicting if the vouchers should be redeemed. He started again on the 3rd attempt; he worked many hours, days turned into weeks, weeks turned into months, and he finally had it ready to test again. He put it live in 2021, and it seemed reasonable; it needed a few more tweaks over the 1st few weeks. It kept getting increasingly accurate; the claims were getting very precise; they were even spotting fraudulent claims humans were missing. He decided to charge just £1.99 for this system & Nifti Gifts was born.
